Compared to the denser urban neighborhoods, Southwest Austin has more space, less traffic, and a wider range of home styles, from master-planned communities to custom-built estates, at a variety of price points.

It’s zoned to Austin ISD, with kids generally feeding into Clayton, Kiker, or Mills Elementary, then Bailey or Small Middle School, and on to Bowie High School.
- Shady Hollow – Mature trees, larger lots, and homes with unique architectural details and spacious backyards.
- Legend Oaks – Tree-lined streets, convenient shopping, and well-kept homes ranging from classic brick to contemporary styles.
- Meridian – A newer community with modern homes, access to top-rated schools, and proximity to Grey Rock Golf Club.
- Sunset Valley – Its own incorporated city within Southwest Austin, with locally owned businesses along Brodie Lane and quick access to downtown Austin.
