Horizon Lake is a Pulte Homes and Taylor Morrison community in Leander built around a 25-acre fishing lake, with a fishing pier, a canoe and kayak launch, and paved hike-and-bike trails. HOA dues run around $50 a month through the Horizon Lake Homeowners Association, and because the lake and trail amenities are city-maintained through Horizon Park, that fee stays low compared to a lot of nearby communities with resort-style clubhouses. Homes here are zoned to Leander ISD.

Location and layout
Horizon Lake sits off Horizon Park Boulevard, reached from 183A via Leander Road (RM 2243) — a straightforward drive rather than a maze of side streets, which matters if you’re commuting toward Cedar Park or the 183A corridor regularly. The community was built out on roughly 200 acres, with about 78 of those acres kept as open space around the lake and trail system rather than turned into additional lots, which is part of why the density here feels lower than a lot of newer Leander subdivisions built on tighter plats.
How Horizon Lake compares to other Leander communities
Horizon Lake’s lake and trail system set it apart from newer Leander subdivisions that lean on a clubhouse and pool instead, like Crystal Crossing and Highland Oaks. If you want something smaller-scale and closer to Leander’s older core, Villas at Vista Ridge is worth a look too.
Both builders have sold through most of their original phases here, so what you’re typically shopping today is resale inventory rather than a builder’s model row — worth knowing going in, since pricing and negotiation work differently than they would in an active new-construction section. If you’re getting ready to make an offer, it’s worth getting pre-approved first, since well-priced homes on or near the lake tend to draw more attention than the rest of the neighborhood. Reach out and I’ll pull what’s currently listed along with recent comps so you know how a specific home is priced relative to the rest of Horizon Lake.
