Leander has a handful of genuinely gated communities, and the two I point buyers toward most often are Travisso and the Grand Mesa section of Crystal Falls. Travisso is a master-planned luxury community built on hilltop terrain with Hill Country views, developed by builders like Toll Brothers, Drees, and Taylor Morrison. Its Palazzo Clubhouse — a 9,200-square-foot amenity center — was named Best Community Clubhouse in Texas the year it opened, and it comes with a fitness center, resort-style pool, splash pad, and lighted tennis courts. Grand Mesa, inside the larger Crystal Falls community, offers that same gated privacy on a smaller, more secluded scale.

What gated living actually gets you here
Beyond the obvious — a controlled entry and more privacy — these communities come with real amenities baked into the HOA: miles of hike-and-bike trails, a full-time lifestyle director who programs resident events, pickleball and basketball courts, and an indoor wellness studio at Travisso’s second amenity center, The Forum. Crystal Falls’ Grand Mesa shares access to the broader community’s pools and tennis center. All of this is zoned to Leander ISD, and you’re a short drive from 183A Toll for the commute into Austin, Cedar Park, or Round Rock.
Weighing gated against Leander’s other options
Gated living comes at a premium, both in purchase price and in HOA dues, so it’s worth comparing against Leander’s non-gated but still well-established neighborhoods like Bryson and Mason Creek, which offer more settled pricing without the gate. If privacy and resort-style amenities are what you’re after and the budget works, Travisso and Grand Mesa are worth touring. If you’d rather put that premium toward square footage instead, I can show you where that trade-off lands.
