Hutto TX Homes For Sale | Hutto TX Real Estate

Hutto is about 30 minutes from downtown Austin, and it’s grown from a quiet farm town into one of the fastest-changing places in the metro. Between the historic downtown, new construction, and easy highway access, I see a lot of buyers looking here for more space without giving up a short commute. Below you can search current Hutto TX homes for sale, from new builds in master-planned communities to acreage on the edge of town.

I’m Robbie English, Broker — here’s more on me and how I work with buyers in Hutto.

TL;DR: Hutto TX homes for sale

  • Hutto is about 30 minutes from downtown Austin, with a mix of historic downtown homes and new construction in master-planned communities like Star Ranch and Carmel Creek.
  • Communities range from golf-course living at Star Ranch to newer subdivisions like Highlands at Hutto and Riverwalk, plus acreage on the edges of town.
  • Major retailers like H-E-B, Target, and Home Depot are minutes away, and Dell Diamond and the Brushy Creek Regional Trail are both close by.
  • I’ve spent years helping buyers navigate the Hutto real estate market and can help you do the same.

Living in Hutto, TX

Hutto got its start in 1876 when the International-Great Northern Railroad came through and built a depot here, and the town has leaned into that history — the old cotton gin downtown, now called the Hutto Co-Op, hosts a weekly farmers market and local events. Hutto’s other claim to fame is the hippo: a circus hippo escaped near the train depot in 1915, the town adopted it as a mascot, and you’ll see hippo statues around town because of it — people around here still call Hutto the Hippo Capital of Texas. Highway 130 connects Hutto directly to Georgetown, Austin, and San Antonio, and that access has driven a lot of the growth over the past two decades.

The historic downtown district is a favorite among residents and visitors, with local businesses, boutique shops, and good dining options. With easy access to major employers in Austin, Round Rock, and Georgetown, Hutto keeps growing while holding onto its welcoming feel.

Housing options in Hutto, TX

Hutto has a wide range of housing options. Buyers can find everything from brand-new homes in master-planned communities to well-maintained properties in established neighborhoods. Some of the most sought-after areas include:

  • Star Ranch – A golf course community featuring well-designed homes, tree-lined streets, and easy access to shopping and entertainment.
  • Carmel Creek – A newer community with modern homes, community parks, and walking trails.
  • Highlands at Hutto – A neighborhood offering spacious homes with contemporary designs and proximity to schools and parks.
  • Riverwalk – A well-established area featuring homes with larger lots and a peaceful suburban feel.
  • Lakeside Estates – A community offering a mix of traditional and modern homes near green spaces and recreational areas.

For those looking for more space, acreage properties are also available in and around Hutto. These homes offer privacy and room to grow while staying a short drive from major amenities.

Shopping, dining, and recreation in Hutto

Hutto keeps adding retail and entertainment options, so it’s easier to find what you need close to home. Major retailers such as Home Depot, H-E-B, and Target are just minutes away, and there’s even more shopping in nearby Round Rock and Pflugerville.

For dining, residents have a mix of locally owned restaurants and well-known chains. Popular spots include Texan Cafe & Pie Shop for comfort food and pie, the family-friendly Rio Grande Tex-Mex, and Southside Market & Barbeque for classic Texas barbecue.

Outdoor enthusiasts will like Hutto’s growing park system and nearby recreation options. The city maintains several parks with walking trails, sports fields, and playgrounds, and the Brushy Creek Regional Trail offers miles of scenic walking and biking paths nearby. Golfers have the Star Ranch Golf Club close by, and for entertainment, the Dell Diamond — home of the Round Rock Express — is just a short drive away.

Why work with me?

Buying a home is a big decision, and it helps to have someone who knows the Hutto market. I’m Robbie English, Broker, and my team at Uncommon Realty has spent years working in this market.

Whether you’re buying your first home, moving up to more space, or looking at an investment property, I can help you understand pricing and the local market so you know what you’re getting into.

Hutto still has its small-town core around Old Town Hutto, but SH 130 runs along the east side and gives easy access down to Round Rock and up toward Georgetown. A lot of the recent growth is tied to Samsung’s semiconductor plant a few miles east in Taylor — the county and TxDOT have been widening Highway 79 to keep up with the traffic it’s bringing. Hutto ISD has grown right along with it, from a single K-12 campus to twelve campuses with nearly 10,000 students. And if you hear locals call Hutto “Hippo Town,” that’s real — it’s the only community in the country with a hippo as its official mascot, a story that goes back to 1915 when a circus train stopped in town.

Finding your home in Hutto, TX

Hutto keeps adding new developments while holding onto its established neighborhoods, so there’s a mix of price points and styles to look at, whether you want a modern home in a planned community or something more traditional on a bigger lot.

If you want to look at Hutto TX homes for sale or just want to talk through the local market, reach out — I’m happy to help. You can also check the City of Hutto site for more on local services and events.
