Rough Hollow is where I send buyers who want lake life without giving up resort-level amenities. It’s a master-planned community built along a three-mile stretch of Lake Travis’s south shore in Lakeway, made up of about 30 individual neighborhoods. Search the current Rough Hollow listings below, and let me know if you’d like my take on any of them.
I’m Robbie English, REALTOR and Broker at Uncommon Realty here in the Austin area.
Living in Rough Hollow
The centerpiece is the Rough Hollow Yacht Club and Marina, with more than 290 boat and jet ski slips, the Canyon Grille restaurant, a negative-edge pool, and a fitness center. Highland Village, the community’s other hub, has splash pads, a lazy river, a dog park, and sports courts, and residents get free access to paddleboards and kayaks on the lake along with more than 20 miles of trails. Kids in Rough Hollow attend Lake Travis ISD, which has an elementary school built right in the community. Downtown Austin is under 30 minutes away, so you get lake living without a punishing commute.
Housing options in Rough Hollow
Architecture ranges from Hill Country stone-and-timber homes to more modern designs, and because the community spans 30 different neighborhoods, lot size, price, and proximity to the water vary widely from one section to the next. Some sections sit right on the marina, others are set back in the hills with lake views. It’s worth walking a few different pockets before deciding which part of Rough Hollow fits your budget and your idea of lake life.
