Living in Volente
Volente is a village in Travis County that incorporated in 2003, and it’s stayed small on purpose. The 2020 census put the population at 561, and there are roughly 500 homes in the village today, with a comprehensive plan that caps future growth at somewhere between 900 and 1,000 homes total. That’s a deliberate choice to keep Volente from turning into another dense lake suburb.
Because homes here sit on at least an acre, you get more separation from your neighbors than almost anywhere else on Lake Travis, along with mature oak trees and, on many lots, direct or near-direct lake access. It’s a quieter, more rural feel than Lakeway or the other communities ringing the lake.
Buying in Volente
Inventory in Volente is genuinely limited, both because there aren’t many homes to begin with and because owners tend to hold onto lake property for a long time. When something does come up, especially anything with real water frontage or a usable dock, it moves fast.
