Ridgewood South is a quieter pocket of Leander off Mockingbird Lane, close enough to Crystal Falls Parkway and the 183A Toll Road that you’re never more than a few minutes from a highway on-ramp. If you’re looking at Ridgewood South homes for sale, it’s worth knowing what’s actually around you before you commit.

Living in Ridgewood South
Kids in Ridgewood South are zoned to Leander ISD, attending Pleasant Hill Elementary, Wiley Middle School, and Rouse High School. The neighborhood sits within a short drive of Crystal Falls, Leander’s golf course community, and Mockingbird Park, which shares the same street the neighborhood is named for. Leander itself sits at the northern end of the Capital MetroRail Red Line, so if you commute into downtown Austin, the train is a real option here in a way it isn’t in most Central Texas suburbs.
What the homes look like
Ridgewood South is mostly single-family homes built in the 2000s and 2010s, with a mix of one and two-story floor plans on standard suburban lots. It’s a straightforward, well-kept neighborhood rather than a resort-style master-planned community, which is exactly what draws a lot of my buyers to it. Because it’s tucked just off Crystal Falls Parkway, you get quick access to the 183A Toll Road without the toll-road noise, and a short drive puts you at the grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping along US-183 in Cedar Park.
If your kids will be zoned to Pleasant Hill, Wiley, or Rouse, I’d suggest touring the campus directly rather than relying only on ratings sites. Leander ISD is one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas, and boundary lines have shifted before as new schools opened, so it’s worth confirming current zoning for a specific address rather than assuming it hasn’t changed.
If Ridgewood South isn’t quite the fit, I’d also point you toward Highlands at Crystal Falls or Crystal Springs, both a short drive from here with a similar feel.
