Your Guide to MayFest in Marble Falls

September 2, 2026 by Robbie English, REALTOR, Broker, ABR, AHWD, BBA, C2EX, CRB, E-PRO, GRI, MRP, PSA, RENE, RPR, SFR, SRS, TAHS, TBS, TLS

Marble Falls is the town most of the Highland Lakes orbits around, and MayFest is a good reminder that it’s still a real town center, not just a shopping strip between lake towns. Here’s what it is, what happens, and what it means if you end up living close enough to walk to it.  Mayfest typically occurs between Thursday to Sunday at the end of April and beginning of May.

Your Guide to MayFest in Marble Falls

TLDR (Too Long; Didn’t Read): Your Guide to MayFest in Marble Falls

  • MayFest is a multi-day community festival hosted by the Marble Falls/Highland Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, held in early May.
  • It takes place at Johnson Park, which includes covered pavilions and an amphitheater in the middle of town.
  • The festival includes carnival rides and games, food vendors, live entertainment, and a parade with floats, vintage vehicles, and local school marching bands.
  • It’s a family-oriented, community-built event rather than a regional tourist draw, which shapes what it’s actually like to attend or live near.
  • For residents, it’s one of several markers on Marble Falls’ community calendar — alongside LakeFest, Oktoberfest, and the Walkway of Lights — that make the town feel like more than a pass-through.

What MayFest Actually Is

MayFest is put on by the Marble Falls/Highland Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce as a springtime community festival, and it’s built around exactly what the name suggests: a multi-day celebration timed to early May, centered on Johnson Park’s pavilions and amphitheater at 230 S Avenue J. Unlike LakeFest, which is built around boat racing, or the Bluebonnet Festival in neighboring Burnet, which leans into the wildflower season, MayFest is a more classic community fair — carnival rides, games, food vendors, live music, and a parade that pulls in local school bands and vintage vehicles.

What Happens at the Festival

The parade is the anchor event, moving through town with floats, antique cars, and marching bands from the local schools — the kind of parade where residents genuinely recognize people walking or riding by. The rest of the festival runs across the multi-day weekend with carnival rides and midway games for kids, a rotating lineup of food vendors, and live entertainment at the amphitheater. It’s not built to draw the tens of thousands that the Bluebonnet Festival or LakeFest pull in — it’s sized more like what it is, a hometown festival for the town’s own families.

What It’s Like Living in Marble Falls During MayFest

Because MayFest is centered on Johnson Park rather than spread across downtown streets, its footprint on daily life is smaller than something like LakeFest or the Walkway of Lights. If you live near the park, expect extra traffic and parking demand around it for the festival’s run, along with the sound of a carnival midway and live music carrying a few blocks in the evenings. Away from the park, Marble Falls carries on close to normal.

What MayFest does well is give residents another reason to actually run into their neighbors. Marble Falls functions as the practical hub of the Highland Lakes — it has the region’s hospital and most of its retail — and it would be easy for a town like that to feel more like infrastructure than community. A parade with your kid’s school band in it, or a food vendor you recognize from the farmers market, is part of what keeps it from feeling that way.

What to Consider If You’re Buying in Marble Falls

Marble Falls comes up in almost every Highland Lakes conversation I have, since it’s the town most people end up needing regardless of where they ultimately buy. A few things worth knowing:

  • It’s the practical hub. The region’s hospital, most grocery and retail options, and the bulk of local services are here — a real factor even if you end up buying in a quieter town nearby.
  • Proximity to Johnson Park and downtown. If you want to walk to events like MayFest, LakeFest, and the Walkway of Lights, that narrows which neighborhoods make sense.
  • Lake Marble Falls access. Marble Falls sits on its own namesake lake, distinct from Lake LBJ or Lake Buchanan, which matters if you’re comparing waterfront options across the region.
  • A genuinely active community calendar. Between MayFest, LakeFest, Oktoberfest, and the Walkway of Lights, Marble Falls has more going on year-round than most Highland Lakes towns — worth weighing if a built-in social calendar matters to you.

How I Can Help

I work Marble Falls real estate regularly through Uncommon Highland Lakes Realty, and I can walk you through what living near downtown versus a quieter subdivision actually looks like across the full calendar year, not just festival season. Start with the Marble Falls housing market, or schedule a consultation to talk through what fits.
