Crestview sits roughly halfway between downtown Austin and the Domain, and it’s one of the few Austin neighborhoods with a MetroRail stop of its own, the Crestview Station at Lamar and Justin Lane, on the Red Line, which opened in 2010 and gets you downtown in about 25 minutes without touching MoPac. I’m Robbie English, REALTOR, Broker at Uncommon Realty, and I work with both buyers and sellers throughout Crestview regularly enough to know the neighborhood block by block.
TLDR: Crestview Real Estate Agent
- Crestview has its own MetroRail Red Line stop at Lamar and Justin Lane, about 25 minutes from downtown.
- It’s zoned Austin ISD: Gullett or Wooten Elementary depending on address, then Burnet Middle School and McCallum High School.
- Most housing stock is mid-century, post-war ranch homes, so I evaluate original systems and any additions carefully.
- Uncommon Rentals by Uncommon Realty is available if you’re weighing renting a Crestview property instead of selling.
What makes Crestview specifically valuable
Crestview started as post-war ranch homes built for returning veterans, and a lot of that original housing stock is still standing, smaller square footage, single-story, on lots that are larger than what you’d find in a comparable central neighborhood today. That mid-century character is a big part of the appeal, but it also means I check original electrical panels, plumbing, and foundation history carefully, since a home that looks updated cosmetically can still have 1950s bones underneath.
Schools zone to Gullett or Wooten Elementary depending on the address, then Burnet Middle School and McCallum High School, all Austin ISD. McCallum also carries a strong reputation for its fine arts magnet program (LASA), which is a genuine draw for some buyers, beyond the usual “good schools” talking point.
How I help buyers here
Because Crestview sits near the rail line and close to both downtown and the Domain, competition on well-priced homes can move fast. I help you get pre-approved and ready to act before we start touring, and when we find the right house, I structure the offer around what actually wins in this market right now, timeline flexibility and clean terms often matter as much as price.
How I help sellers here
For sellers, I price against recent Crestview-specific sales rather than a broader central Austin number, since proximity to the rail station and the specific school zone both move value here in ways a generic estimate won’t capture. I also flag which mid-century features are worth highlighting (original hardwood, larger lots) versus which original systems buyers’ inspectors will want addressed before closing.
If you’re thinking about renting instead of selling
Crestview’s walkability and transit access make it a strong rental market too. If you’d rather hold the property, Uncommon Rentals by Uncommon Realty can tell you what it would realistically rent for and manage it going forward.
Let’s talk about your Crestview move
Whether you’re buying near the rail line or getting ready to list a home you’ve owned for years, I’d rather have a real conversation about your specific situation than a generic pitch. Reach out and let’s talk it through, or take a look at what’s currently for sale in Crestview to get a feel for the market.
