Hazlewood is a neighborhood in Leander that’s been building out gradually since around 2013 — it’s not a huge, one-phase development, so you’ll see a mix of home ages and styles depending on which section you’re in. It’s a solid option if you want single-family living in Leander without paying for a brand-new master-planned community.
I’m Robbie English, REALTOR and Managing Broker at Uncommon Realty, and Hazlewood is one of several Leander neighborhoods I work regularly.
Living in Hazlewood
Hazlewood is zoned to Leander ISD, and the neighborhood has its own community pool and a neighborhood park, which is more than a lot of comparably priced Leander subdivisions offer. Because the neighborhood built out over multiple phases, lot sizes and finish quality vary more from section to section than in a single-phase development — that’s something I walk clients through house by house rather than assuming the whole neighborhood is uniform.
If Hazlewood doesn’t have the right fit available when you’re looking, I’d also point you toward Maya Vista, Vista Ridge, or Deerbrooke — all Leander ISD neighborhoods with a similar profile but different price points and amenity mixes.
Buying in Hazlewood
Because this isn’t a single-builder, single-phase neighborhood, I always check which phase and which builder a specific home came from before we talk price — construction quality and HOA obligations can differ meaningfully between the earlier and later sections. That’s the kind of detail that doesn’t show up in an online listing but matters for resale down the road.
