River Place is a country club community on Lake Austin that I show to buyers who want a wooded, hillside setting without leaving the Austin area. It’s about 20 minutes from downtown, spread across 1,440 acres of steep hills framing the lake, with close to 1,000 homes total. Search the current River Place listings below, and reach out if you’d like my take on any of them.

Living in River Place
Even though it has an Austin address, River Place is zoned to Leander ISD, with kids attending River Place Elementary, Four Points Middle School, and Vandegrift High School, so it’s worth knowing that before you assume Austin ISD boundaries apply. The River Place Nature Trail follows Panther Creek and is one of the better hiking and birdwatching spots in the area, with a boardwalk that wraps the nature pond and connects out toward Lake Austin. The River Place Country Club anchors the community with a private golf course, tennis courts, a pool, and a clubhouse.
Housing options in River Place
Homes here sit on larger, often heavily wooded lots shaped by the hillside terrain, and you’ll find everything from established homes built when the community first developed to newer custom construction on the remaining lots. Because of the topography, views vary a lot from lot to lot. Some homes look out over the lake or the hills, others are more tucked into the trees, so it’s worth seeing a property in person before deciding what you’re getting.
