With a new Glory Tree planned for Christmas in Marble Falls 2026, I have another reason to look forward to the holidays in a town I love. I’ve spent Christmas in the Texas Hill Country for decades, and there’s something about the holidays in a small town that never loses its magic. I think about trips to Johnson City to see the PEC lights and the joy of visiting different towns to experience their Christmas traditions. Those are the moments that stay with me: spending time with family, being part of a community, and slowing down enough to enjoy it all. That’s why I was so excited to hear what Marble Falls is planning for Christmas 2026.
The City of Marble Falls has announced plans to welcome The Glory Tree, an illuminated Christmas tree structure reaching up to 250 feet tall, to Lakeside Park along Lake Marble Falls. It’s designed to exceed the existing world record for the tallest Christmas tree, though that achievement is still ahead of it. The experience is planned to be free and will join the community’s beloved Walkway of Lights for the holiday season. What excites me is the opportunity for more people to discover Marble Falls and the Highland Lakes. I can see this giving visitors from across Texas a reason to come experience a town I love. Some may stay for a few hours, while others may make a weekend of it. Either way, I hope they leave themselves enough time to explore, enjoy the scenery, and get a feel for what makes this community such a wonderful place to spend time.
Marble Falls is such a quaint town, and its setting in the Highland Lakes is a big part of its appeal. You have Lake Marble Falls right there, Lake LBJ nearby, and beautiful Hill Country scenery to enjoy along the way. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer, whether you’re visiting for an afternoon, getting away for a couple of days, or imagining what everyday life here could look like. To me, the combination of small-town charm and time by the water makes it especially inviting.
If you’re planning to visit Marble Falls for Christmas, my advice is to come early and make a day of it. Give yourself time to walk around downtown, browse the local shops, and explore around Third Street before grabbing something to eat. Part of the fun is giving yourself the freedom to wander into a shop that catches your attention or linger over a meal. There’s so much to enjoy when you leave a little room in the schedule to experience the town.
I’d also encourage you to explore the lakes while there’s still daylight. Spend some time taking in Lake Marble Falls, or drive over to Lake LBJ and experience that part of the Highland Lakes as well. Find a scenic spot for family pictures-or a few selfies, depending on who’s along for the trip-and take time to appreciate the setting. A beautiful view, a good meal, and an afternoon with people you enjoy can become some of the best memories of the visit. Then, as evening arrives, the Christmas lights become another part of a day you’ve already enjoyed together.
After decades of spending the holidays in the Hill Country, what I appreciate most is the way these small towns make room for togetherness. I feel less drawn to the rush of big shopping centers or standing in line for whatever everyone is trying to buy that year. I want to walk around, enjoy the lights, spend time with family, and take in the community around me. There’s something magical about that feeling, and it’s a big part of why I keep coming back to small-town Christmas celebrations.
My hope is that the Glory Tree introduces more people to Marble Falls and gives families another reason to return year after year. An attraction like this can inspire that first visit, but the time spent exploring downtown, enjoying the lakes, and making memories together can give people reasons to come back in other seasons, too. I’m excited for visitors to experience the life and scenery of the Highland Lakes, even if their first introduction is just a few hours on a Christmas outing.
