Homestead is a newer subdivision off North Bagdad Road in Leander, reached by heading west on Hero Way and turning onto Harrington Way. It’s a family-friendly, tightly-planned neighborhood — not an acreage or land-focused community despite the name — with lots that run around 0.15 acres, so you get a yard without a lot of upkeep.

What’s inside Homestead
Homes were built with granite counters, custom tile backsplashes, covered back patios, and full sod and sprinkler systems — solid mid-range spec homes rather than custom builds. The community has its own park and pavilion with an outdoor fireplace and picnic area for neighborhood gatherings, and residents also have Benbrook Ranch Park and Devine Lake nearby for anything more than a quick walk outside. Old Town Leander is close enough for a regular dinner or weekend market trip, and Garey Park — with its playgrounds, trails, splash pad, and equestrian center — is one of the better family parks in this part of Leander ISD.
Leander as a whole
Leander sits northwest of Austin along US 183 and 183A, and it’s grown fast enough that it’s added multiple new elementary and middle schools to Leander ISD over the past decade to keep up. The Capital Metro Rail Line has its northern terminus at the Leander Station downtown, which gives commuters a rail option into Austin that most of the surrounding suburbs don’t have. For a Homestead buyer, that means you’re getting a quieter, newer neighborhood without being cut off from transit or from the growth happening in Leander’s downtown core.
Buying in Leander right now
Homestead moves at a normal Leander pace — well-priced homes here don’t usually sit for long, but it’s not the frantic bidding-war market it was a few years ago, so buyers have more room to negotiate inspection items and closing costs than they did in 2021 and 2022. If Homestead doesn’t end up being the right fit, I’d also look at Summerlyn or Mesa Vista Estates, both a short drive away, or browse everything on the Leander homes for sale page.
Reach out whenever you’re ready to talk specifics — I’m happy to walk you through current pricing in Homestead and how it compares to the neighborhoods around it.
