Honeycomb Hills Homes For Sale

Honeycomb Hills is one of the older, more established pockets of Leander — the neighborhood dates back to 1979, which is unusual in a city where most of the housing stock is newer. It sits northwest of Crystal Falls and southwest of North Creek, so you get a settled, tree-covered feel here that a lot of Leander’s newer master-planned communities haven’t had time to grow into yet.

What sets Honeycomb Hills apart from newer Leander subdivisions

Because this neighborhood was built out well before Leander’s more recent growth boom, you won’t find the master-planned amenity centers and HOA-run pools that define places like Crystal Falls next door. What you get instead is larger, more established lots, mature trees that newer subdivisions won’t have for another 20 years, and a quieter, more spread-out layout. Homes here are on streets like Honeycomb Hollow and Honeycomb Lane, and the mix runs from original 1970s-80s construction to homes that have been updated or rebuilt over the years — so the age and condition of any given house varies more than it would in a single-builder community.

How I’d approach a search here

Because Honeycomb Hills isn’t a single-builder subdivision with a consistent look, I spend more time walking buyers through the specific age of the roof, HVAC, and foundation on each house than I would in a newer community where most of that is still under warranty. That’s less of an issue if you’re comparing it to nearby newer options like Horizon Park or Hawkes Landing, where the tradeoff runs the other way — less character, but fewer unknowns.

Leander is about 22 miles northwest of downtown Austin, and Honeycomb Hills is zoned to Leander ISD like the rest of the city. If you want to compare it against other Leander neighborhoods before deciding, I can walk you through Grayson or Trails at Leander as well.

Lot sizes here also tend to run larger than what you’ll find in newer Leander subdivisions built on tighter, more efficient plats, which matters if you want room for a shop, a big garden, or simply more separation from the neighbors. That’s worth weighing against the tradeoff of an older house — I can help you run the numbers on renovation costs versus buying newer construction outright.
