Lakeway Designated REALTOR: Broker-Level Credentials

When you’re searching for the top Lakeway designated REALTOR, you’re really asking what that title actually means and why it should matter to you. I’m Robbie English, REALTOR, Broker at Uncommon Realty, and I’m the firm’s Designated REALTOR. This page is about what that credential actually requires and what it means for the person whose name is on your contract.

TLDR: What a Designated REALTOR Actually Is

  1. A Designated REALTOR holds a Texas broker’s license, a separate and more demanding credential than a standard sales agent license.
  2. Getting there requires 900 hours of qualifying real estate education, versus 270 for a sales agent license.
  3. It also requires four years of active, documented experience as a licensed agent or broker before you can even apply.
  4. As the Designated REALTOR for Uncommon Realty, I’m the broker of record, personally accountable for every agent and every transaction under our roof.

Most people searching for a Lakeway REALTOR don’t realize that “agent” and “broker” aren’t interchangeable titles. A Texas sales agent needs 270 hours of qualifying education to get licensed and can start working with no prior experience, always under a sponsoring broker. A broker’s license requires 900 hours of qualifying and related education and a minimum of four years of documented, active experience as a licensed agent or broker in the five years before applying. That’s a meaningfully higher bar, and it’s why not every agent you meet in Lakeway has taken it on.

What “Designated REALTOR” Adds on Top of That

Holding a broker’s license lets you work independently. Being the Designated REALTOR for a firm goes a step further: it means you’re the broker of record, legally responsible for supervising every agent operating under that brokerage and standing behind every transaction that goes through it. At Uncommon Realty, that’s me. When you work with our team, there’s a broker personally accountable for the file, not just a licensed agent reporting up a chain to someone you’ll never talk to.

Why That Matters on a Lakeway Transaction Specifically

Lakeway properties often carry details that add real complexity: waterfront rights and dock permits, HOA and POA restrictions that vary neighborhood to neighborhood, easements, and appraisal gaps on unique properties. Having a broker-level review on those details, rather than relying on a newer agent’s judgment alone, means fewer things get missed. I’ve handled competitive offers, tricky inspections, and short appraisals here for years, and that broker-level accountability is part of what backs every transaction I take on.

What I Bring Beyond the License

I’m also a national real estate speaker and instructor, training other agents across the country on ethics, negotiation, and compliance. That teaching keeps the strategies I bring to my own clients current with how contracts and negotiation practice are actually changing, not just how they worked when I got licensed. If you’re curious what it’s actually like to work with me day to day, separate from the credentials, I’ve written about that on my page about the client experience.

The Path Forward: Let’s Get Started

Buying or selling in Lakeway is a major decision, and my team at Uncommon Realty and I are ready to bring that experience to your transaction. Working with Robbie English, REALTOR, Broker at Uncommon Realty means partnering with a broker personally accountable for your file, uncommonly.
