I’m Robbie English, REALTOR and Broker at Uncommon Highland Lakes Realty, and pet owners looking at Highland Haven usually get lucky. This small lake city on Lake LBJ in Burnet County tends to have larger lots, quieter streets, and easier lake access than the tighter subdivisions closer to Austin, all of which make a real difference if you’re house-hunting with a dog or two in mind.

What to look for beyond “pets allowed”
A listing that permits pets isn’t the same as a listing that works well for them. I’d rather walk a property with you and check the things that actually matter: is the yard already fenced or would you need to add one, is the lot flat enough for a dog to actually use, and is the street quiet enough for off-leash time in the yard without worrying about traffic. Some Highland Haven properties also fall under deed restrictions or an HOA that limits fencing or pet numbers, so it’s worth confirming that before you get attached to a house.
Lake access and pets
If your pets love the water as much as you do, dock access or a walkable path to the lake is worth prioritizing in your search. Not every Highland Haven property has direct water access, so I’ll help you figure out which listings actually deliver on that versus which ones are just close to it on a map.
Space to actually use
A big lot on paper doesn’t always mean usable space. Slope toward the water, shared driveways, or septic system placement can all eat into the flat, fenceable area a dog actually gets to run in. I point these things out during showings so you’re not surprised after closing.
Beyond Highland Haven
If you don’t find the right fit here, nearby Horseshoe Bay and Marble Falls are both worth including in a pet-friendly search too, and I can help you compare all three markets at once instead of hunting one town at a time.
Let’s find the right home for your whole household
I’ve walked enough Highland Haven properties with clients and their pets to know what actually works day-to-day versus what just sounds good in a listing description. Reach out and I’ll help you find a place that works for everyone, four legs included.
