Finding Homes With Large Yards in Highland Haven TX

I’m Robbie English, REALTOR and Broker at Uncommon Highland Lakes Realty. If you want more than a fenced-in patch of grass, Highland Haven is worth a look. Because it’s a small lake city rather than a dense subdivision, a lot of lots here are bigger than what you’d find closer to Austin, and it’s not unusual to find room for a garden, a workshop, or space for pets to actually run.

Why lot sizes vary so much here

Highland Haven sits on the eastern shore of Lake LBJ in Burnet County and was originally developed with more breathing room between homes than the tighter subdivisions common in the Austin suburbs. That means yard size can differ block to block, and it’s worth walking a property in person rather than trusting square footage alone, since a lot’s shape, slope toward the water, and any easements can eat into usable space.

What to check before you fall in love with a big yard

A large lot on paper doesn’t always mean a large usable yard. I look at a few things with buyers before they get attached to a property: whether the lot backs up to a shared driveway or right-of-way, whether there are deed restrictions tied to the lake or to a homeowners’ association, and whether drainage or terrain limits how much of the lot is actually flat, usable ground. None of that shows up in listing photos, and it’s the kind of thing that’s much easier to sort out before you make an offer than after.

What a bigger yard is actually good for

Most buyers I work with who want space have something specific in mind, whether that’s a garden, a place for pets to roam without a leash, room for a boat or RV, or just enough distance from the neighbors to enjoy the quiet Highland Haven is known for. Knowing what you actually want the space for helps narrow the search faster than “big yard” alone.

Where to look beyond Highland Haven

If you don’t find what you need here, nearby Horseshoe Bay and Marble Falls are worth including in your search too. Lot sizes and price points differ across all three, and I can help you compare them side by side instead of house-hunting one town at a time.

Let’s find the right property

I’ve worked enough of these lots to know which streets tend to have more usable space and which listings look bigger than they really are. If you’re searching for a home with real room to spread out, reach out and I’ll help you sort the genuine finds from the ones that just photograph well.
