Crestview is a mid-century neighborhood in north-central Austin’s 78757 zip code, roughly bounded by West Anderson Lane to the north, Allandale and Burnet Road to the west, Brentwood and Justin Lane to the south, and the Highland neighborhood and North Lamar Boulevard to the east. Wooten sits just across Anderson Lane to the north. It’s about 10-15 minutes from downtown, and it’s one of the few Austin neighborhoods with its own MetroRail stop.

Getting around
The MetroRail Red Line stop at North Lamar and Justin Lane puts downtown about 25 minutes away without touching MoPac, which is a real draw if you’d rather skip the drive. The neighborhood’s compact footprint (about 1.2 square miles) means you can walk to a coffee shop or restaurant from most streets, something that’s harder to find in a lot of Austin. Burnet Road runs the western edge and has picked up a steady mix of restaurants, shops, and small businesses over the past decade.
History and home stock
Crestview was developed starting in 1947, and a lot of the original homes were built for returning World War II veterans using G.I. Bill financing. That’s part of why you’ll still see so many small, well-built ranch homes on tree-lined streets, though they’re increasingly mixed in with remodels and new construction on the same lots. The Crestview Shopping Center opened in 1951 and is still a neighborhood fixture. Lots here run smaller than what you’ll find in the suburbs, which keeps the area walkable but also means a lot of buyers are choosing between an original mid-century home to update themselves or a newer build that’s already done the work.
Schools
Crestview is zoned to Austin ISD, with kids attending Gullett or Wooten Elementary depending on the specific address, then Burnet Middle School and McCallum High School. LASA, the district’s academic magnet, is also available as an option at the McCallum campus.
What living here is like
Crestview has held onto its character in a way a lot of central Austin neighborhoods haven’t. It’s quieter than the commercial strip along Burnet Road suggests, with mature trees and a genuine mix of longtime residents and newer families drawn in by the rail access and the walkability.
