Your Guide to Starry Starry Nights in Llano

October 15, 2026 by Robbie English, REALTOR, Broker, ABR, AHWD, BBA, C2EX, CRB, E-PRO, GRI, MRP, PSA, RENE, RPR, SFR, SRS, TAHS, TBS, TLS

Marble Falls isn’t the only Highland Lakes-area town with a real holiday lights tradition. Llano has its own, along the Llano River instead of Lake Marble Falls, and it’s worth knowing about if winter in the Hill Country is part of what’s drawing you to this side of the region.

Your Guide to Starry Starry Nights in Llano

TLDR (Too Long; Didn’t Read): Your Guide to Starry Starry Nights in Llano

  • Starry Starry Nights is a free, walk-through holiday lights display at Badu Park in Llano, open nightly from the Friday after Thanksgiving through December 31.
  • The park is open 6 to 9 p.m. each night, with lighted displays strung along the Llano River and through the park.
  • Visitors can sip hot chocolate along the trail, roast marshmallows and make s’mores over an open fire, and visit Santa on Friday and Saturday evenings through December 22.
  • There’s no admission charge, though donations are welcome to help sustain the display.
  • It runs at the same time as Marble Falls’ Walkway of Lights, giving the Highland Lakes region two distinct riverside light displays within about 40 minutes of each other each winter.

What Starry Starry Nights Actually Is

Starry Starry Nights opens Badu Park in Llano to nightly visitors from the day after Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve, turning the riverside park into a lighted Christmas walk along the Llano River. It’s free every night from 6 to 9 p.m., with donations welcomed rather than required, and the atmosphere leans cozy rather than spectacle-scale: hot chocolate along the trail, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, and Santa visiting on Friday and Saturday evenings through December 22.

How It Compares to Marble Falls’ Walkway of Lights

Both events run at the same time of year and follow a similar formula — a free, community-built walk-through lights display along a Highland Lakes waterway. The difference is scale and setting: Marble Falls’ Walkway of Lights is built around Lake Marble Falls with more than 100 sculptures and roughly two million lights, while Starry Starry Nights is a smaller, more intimate Llano River experience with its own distinct character, s’mores and Santa visits included.

What It’s Like Living in Llano During the Holidays

Because Starry Starry Nights runs every night for over a month rather than concentrating into one weekend, it doesn’t create a single traffic spike the way a festival weekend does — it’s a steady, ongoing draw instead. For residents near Badu Park, expect regular evening foot traffic and a genuinely festive atmosphere through the holiday season, but nothing close to the disruption of a single big event. It’s the kind of amenity locals use as much as visitors do.

What to Consider If You’re Buying Near Llano

Starry Starry Nights is a good reminder that Llano’s calendar has real range across the seasons, not just deer season in the fall:

  • Proximity to Badu Park. If a nightly winter walk matters to you, that’s worth weighing when comparing neighborhoods in Llano.
  • A different kind of holiday season than Marble Falls. If you want the bigger-scale Walkway of Lights experience, Marble Falls delivers that; if you want something smaller and quieter, Llano’s version may suit you better.
  • It’s a genuinely donation-funded, community-run event. That says something honest about civic involvement in a town this size.
  • Worth visiting in December before you decide. Seeing Llano at its most festive is a good way to judge whether the town’s pace fits what you want.

How I Can Help

If Llano is part of your search, I can help you understand how it compares to Kingsland and the rest of the Highland Lakes I work more directly. Schedule a consultation, or start with current listings across the region.
