East Austin’s condo market runs boutique and loft-style rather than high-rise — most of the notable buildings, including Fourth& and Pedernales Lofts, sit within a few blocks of each other along Chicon Street.

The named buildings worth knowing
Fourth&, at 4th and Chicon, is a 97-unit building completed in 2018 with a 5-star Austin Energy Green Building rating and units ranging from about 500 to over 1,400 square feet. A few blocks north, Pedernales Lofts at 900 Chicon Street has 105 units — 91 loft-style condos plus 14 live-work studios — with a community garden, dog park, rooftop lounge, and pool. The Chicon, a newer three-story building at 1301 Chicon, mixes ground-floor retail with condos, including some units supported by City of Austin affordable-housing bonds.
Set your expectations before you search
None of these buildings carry the concierge-and-valet package you’d find downtown — East Austin’s condo scene is more about walkable access to the neighborhood’s restaurants and music venues than full-service amenities. If a true high-rise experience is what you’re after, Central Austin’s downtown towers are the better fit; if you want East Austin’s location with more square footage, a townhome here might serve you better than a condo would.
